Im Rahmen des Interreg-Projekts DARKERSKY4CE geht die Pilotaktion zur Reduzierung von Lichtverschmutzung in eine neue Phase: Da der ursprünglich geplante Standort im agra-Park durch die Sanierung der angrenzenden Bundesstraßenbrücke auf unbestimmte Zeit nicht umsetzbar ist, haben wir gemeinsam mit der Stadt Markkleeberg einen neuen Pilotstandort gefunden – die Siedlung Goldene Höhe in Markkleeberg-Ost. Dort sollen rund 30 veraltete Straßenleuchten gegen moderne, dark-sky-freundliche LED-Leuchten ausgetauscht werden: mit wärmerem Licht, deutlich weniger Streulicht und reduzierter Blendung für Mensch und Tier.
Mitte Oktober treffen sich die Projektpartner aus sechs Ländern zudem in Villach (Österreich), um den aktuellen Stand aller Pilotaktionen im Projekt zu vergleichen und gemeinsame Handlungsempfehlungen zu erarbeiten.

Reducing Light Pollution: New Pilot Site in Markkleeberg-Ost Gets Underway
As part of the Interreg project DARKERSKY4CE, the pilot action to reduce light pollution is entering a new phase: As the originally planned location in agra-Park cannot be implemented for an indefinite period due to the renovation of the adjacent federal road bridge, we have identified a new pilot site together with the City of Markkleeberg – the Goldene Höhe residential area in Markkleeberg-Ost. Around 30 outdated streetlights are to be replaced with modern, dark-sky-friendly LED lights. These will provide warmer light, significantly reduce light spill and minimise glare for both people and wildlife.
In mid-October, project partners from six countries will also meet in Villach, Austria, to compare the current progress of all pilot actions and develop joint recommendations for action.
